After founding the company more than a decade ago, Paul Klanschek has decided to step away from his day-to-day role as co-CEO of Bitpanda and take on a new role as a Member of the Board of Directors. In this role, he’ll continue to help guide Bitpanda’s long-term strategic direction while stepping back from operational responsibilities.
This change is a natural next step for both Paul and Bitpanda, reflecting the evolution of the company, from a bold startup to a regulated financial institution trusted by more than 7 million users. Bitpanda’s next chapter is built on that same entrepreneurial spirit, but now strengthened by deep experience, stable leadership, and a long-term vision for Europe’s digital financial infrastructure.
Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, currently Deputy CEO, will now assume the CEO role alongside Eric Demuth, maintaining Bitpanda’s dual leadership structure. Lukas has been instrumental in Bitpanda’s growth since joining in 2018, helping shape strategy, scale operations, and build strong regulatory foundations.
Paul Klanschek, Co-Founder of Bitpanda, said: “When we started Bitpanda over 10 years ago, it wasn’t just about crypto. It was about access. We believed that investing should be simple, secure, and accessible to everyone - and we built that. Now, it’s time for a new chapter. I’m stepping back from the day-to-day, but I’ll stay close as a Board member and shareholder.”
As a founding team, Paul, Eric and Christian launched Bitpanda with a clear mission: break down financial barriers and make investing accessible to all. That mission remains unchanged, and Bitpanda continues to grow rapidly across its B2C and B2B businesses, while expanding under full regulatory compliance across the EU and the UK.
Eric Demuth, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, said: “Paul’s vision and energy helped grow Bitpanda into what it is today. While this marks the end of one chapter, it’s not a goodbye. Paul will continue to shape the future of the business from the Board. With Lukas stepping up, we’re in the best possible hands for what’s next.”
Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, incoming Co-CEO, added: “I’m proud to be taking on this role and continuing what Paul, Eric, and Christian started. Bitpanda is uniquely positioned to lead in Europe and beyond, and our mission remains the same.”
Bitpanda would like to thank Paul for everything he has built, and for the vision that will continue to guide Bitpanda for years to come.
