Bitpanda is strengthening its executive leadership team for the next phase of growth by promoting Barbara Edelmann to Chief Financial Officer, effective 12 June.
She succeeds Jonas Larsen, who is leaving Bitpanda for personal reasons and by mutual agreement.
Barbara Edelmann currently serves as Vice President, Finance & Tax at Bitpanda, as well as Managing Director of Bitpanda Payments GmbH. Barbara has been the driving force behind the transformation of Bitpanda’s financial operations as the company grew into a mature industry player. Prior to joining the company in 2022, she worked in senior positions at Deloitte for 16 years.
Jonas Larsen joined Bitpanda as CFO in 2023 from Lunar, where he has served as CFO since 2021. Jonas has been instrumental in enabling Bitpanda’s growth into a leading European platform for crypto and other digital assets.
Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, CEO of Bitpanda, said: “I am delighted to have Barbara step into the CFO role. She has been instrumental in transforming our financial operations from within, and her deep internal knowledge of our business and extensive experience make her the ideal leader for our Finance organization as we accelerate into our next phase of growth. I am also incredibly grateful to Jonas for his partnership over the last few years. He joined us during a pivotal time and brought the steady hand, financial discipline, and calm leadership we needed to navigate an incredibly dynamic market.”
Eric Demuth, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Bitpanda, added: “I’ve always believed that our greatest talent should come from within. When a leader grows with a company, shapes its foundations, and consistently delivers, it tells you infinitely more than any external interview process ever could. Barbara knows our business fundamentally and has earned the deep trust of teams across the organization. I am thrilled to welcome her to the executive team; this is exactly how great organizations evolve.”
