After a very busy start to 2019, we’re keeping up the momentum and heading into summer with big plans. Make sure to follow us to stay informed about the latest from the Bitpanda ecosystem.
The biggest news from April is that we received a PSD2 payments license from the Austrian financial market authority in accordance with E.U. law. This might sound like a lot of legal jargon but this monumental news for us as a fintech. We are now able to launch new and innovative features which will underline our vision for the future.
Were you lucky enough to visit Paris Blockchain Week? If so, you might have caught us there too! We were discussing tokenisation and how it affects and changes the financial world we’re used to.
Bitpanda CEO Eric Demuth took the HorizonX stage at Dublin Tech Summit to talk about investing for millennials, Bitcoin and the barriers of finance which shouldn’t exist in 2019.
We also had a stand in the middle of the conference where people could come and chat to us about cryptocurrencies, investing and the future of the industry.
The doors @dubtechsummit are open! Have you seen the Bitpanda stand? If you’re at Dublin Tech Summit then come and visit us on the exhibit floor to talk about cryptocurrency, digital assets and what we’re planning for 2019 #DTS19 pic.twitter.com/JwCGyXgQnv

As if Dublin Tech Summit wasn’t enough, we visited New York with Austria’s Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs as part of a delegation trip which saw a lot of productive talks about digitalisation and future technologies with various established U.S. startups.

On the 1st of April, we decided to add digitised Tulips as a tradeable asset on the platform. The decision was based on the fact that many economists compare Bitcoin with Tulips, calling it a bubble like that which happened in Holland in the 17th century.
Clever people like @Nouriel Roubini called Bitcoin the “mother of all bubbles”, and “much worse” than the tulip mania. So we decided to revive this promising and attractive asset class 🌷 #bitcoin #tulipmania pic.twitter.com/U31giRyulQ
