September has been a busy month, as we were working hard on adding new things to Bitpanda. Lots of new developments had been implemented and many more things are still in the pipeline so have a read to stay updated.
After a lot of hard work, we were happy to announce full ERC20 technical standard support on the platform. This means that we are now able to quickly integrate tokens running on the Ethereum blockchain. There is a wide range of tokens supporting this standard including some of the most interesting projects in the crypto space. So far, we have added: 0x (ZRX), Augur (REP) and OmiseGo (OMG) which now have full support for deposit, withdraw and trade functionality. Please note that you should not deposit tokens that are not supported by Bitpanda via a full wallet (deposit and withdraw) as these will be lost.
Starting from mid September, Bitpanda users are able to buy and sell Tezos (XTZ). Tezos is a smart contract platform and cryptocurrency founded in 2014. Its main goal is to offer the world’s first ‘self-amending’ cryptocurrency and it wants to drive innovation through a community-led governance system. In other words, the users can approve or disapprove proposed amendments. A full wallet integration including deposit, withdraw and send functionality will follow soon afterward.
Old Ethereum (ETH) deposit addresses will no longer be valid, please do not use them anymore. If you would like to deposit ETH to Bitpanda, simply create a new address by clicking on ‘Create new address’. Also, note that your old addresses will not be shown in your wallet. This only affects you if you want to deposit ETH to Bitpanda. If you already have ETH in your Bitpanda account and just want to store it — there is no need for you to do anything. Also, as per usual, please do not deposit tokens that are not officially supported by Bitpanda via a full wallet, if you do then they will be lost and we are unable to refund them.
We wanted to give back to our loyal Twitter followers so we decided to host a giveaway for those who followed us. At the end we chose ten lucky winners who won €500 worth of Amazon vouchers.
This will not be the last time we do a giveaway so if you want to win, make sure to follow us!
We here at Bitpanda were considering how far we have come in the past four years and started to get a little nostalgic. To pay homage to the massive steps we have made, we created a small video to remind everyone how we have changed.
Our presence in the media is ever growing and September really was a testament to that. We were mentioned in a segment on Austrian national television (ORF) and were interviewed for an article in Die Presse too, You can find that interview right here but you will need to be subscribed to the newspaper.
Talking about growth, our social media is going from strength to strength as more of you get involved in the discussion. This is how many new followers joined us across our channels.
Pandas are lazy? Bah! Not ours. This year, half of our staff demonstrated they are anything but lazy representing the company at the Vienna Business Run.
We have a lot of roles available at the moment so if you see something that fits your skills set, please don’t hesitate to apply. We are particularly on the hunt for a PHP Backend Developer and a DevOps Engineer.
That’s all for September, stay tuned in for more developments.
Kind regards from Vienna,
Team Bitpanda
