You can now connect supported AI assistants and code-based workflows to your Bitpanda account to access portfolio information, set up recurring workflows and initiate trades across crypto, stocks, ETFs and metals. Control remains with you throughout, and you decide what the assistant is allowed to do.
AI assistants have become a familiar way to find information, work with data and use digital services. With the Bitpanda API and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), that interaction can now extend to your Bitpanda account.
You can choose how you want to interact: through natural language with an AI assistant or through tools and workflows built in code. Bitpanda provides the account, portfolio data and transaction infrastructure behind both.
Until now, using an AI assistant for financial topics has largely ended with an answer to a specific question. It might explain a market movement, summarise data or help you understand a portfolio. Taking the next step usually meant leaving the conversation and starting again on an investment platform.
Bitpanda MCP brings those experiences closer together.
You can ask an assistant how your portfolio is distributed across different asset classes, request up-to-date information or set up a recurring overview. You can also ask the assistant to prepare a rebalancing strategy, stake or unstake eligible crypto-assets, or initiate a buy or sell order. The final decision always rests with you, and any supported action requires your approval.
This gives you another way to use Bitpanda alongside the existing app and web platform.
Model Context Protocol, or MCP, is a standardised way for AI assistants to connect with external tools and services.
Bitpanda MCP gives supported AI assistants access to functions made available through the Bitpanda API. For users, this turns the technical connection into a natural-language experience.
You describe what you want to know or do, and the assistant uses its connection to Bitpanda to retrieve the relevant information or initiate the action. You do not need to build the integration or write code yourself.
From your perspective, the difference is simple: interacting with your investment account can now begin with a prompt.
Many early financial AI tools have been limited to closed systems or a single asset class. Bitpanda brings AI-supported access to one platform spanning crypto, stocks, ETFs and metals.
That matters because portfolios often include more than one type of investment. You may want to understand your overall exposure, compare positions or use the same workflow across different asset classes without relying on a separate connection for each market.
Portfolio information, orders and transactions continue to be handled through Bitpanda’s established infrastructure under the applicable European regulatory frameworks.
Natural language is one way to interact with the platform. If you want to build your own tools or workflows, the Bitpanda API gives you direct access through code.
You can use it to create personalised financial tools and workflows around portfolio information and investment functions. This might include a custom portfolio overview, a recurring monitoring process or an interface designed around a particular use case.
The distinction is straightforward: MCP is designed for natural-language interaction through supported AI assistants, while the API gives you the flexibility to build and connect your own software.
Connecting an AI assistant to your account requires clear permissions.
An assistant can access the information you allow it to use, interpret your instructions and initiate supported actions. It cannot independently decide how your money should be invested or act outside the authorisation you have provided.
Transactions are only processed with your explicit authorisation, either for an individual order or through consent you have given in advance for subsequent orders. In either case, the assistant can only act within the authorisation you have provided.
As AI assistants become a more common interface for digital services, they are also likely to shape how people access financial products.
In finance, that requires a reliable connection to real portfolio information, investment functions and transaction infrastructure. Bitpanda provides that connection across crypto, stocks, ETFs and metals.
This is where Agentic Finance starts to become practical: AI-supported interfaces working with real financial tools, within permissions defined by the user.
