Safety first: Bitpanda is now registered with the Bank of Spain

By Bitpanda

At Bitpanda, we do things right and do the right things. We have an unparalleled commitment to regulatory compliance and prioritise the safety of our community above all else. This is why we are incredibly excited to let you know that Bitpanda is now officially registered with the Bank of Spain as a provider of virtual currency exchange services for fiat currencies and the custody of electronic wallets.

This registration with the Bank of Spain comes just weeks after we became the first foreign crypto provider registered in Sweden and one of the first to register with the Virtual Asset Services Provider (VASP) register in Italy. This is great news for the entire Bitpanda community as we are now the leading investment platform in Europe in terms of regulatory engagement.

Wondering what this means for you? As recent market developments have shown, where you buy your digital assets matters At Bitpanda, we prioritise the safety of our community and work relentlessly to build the best and safest investment platform that offers fair and innovative services to millions of investors.

Licences and registrations as distinctions

At Bitpanda, we highly value the licences we hold and the registrations we obtain with local regulatory bodies and authorities. This is because they are true distinctions and a guarantee of our commitment to quality, fairness and transparency.

In addition to the newly-secured registration in Spain and the recent ones in Italy and Sweden, we are also registered with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), the French Autorité Des Marchés Financiers (AMF) and the Czech Trade Authority as a VASP.  We also hold the PSD2 licence, the MiFID II licence and we are Austria’s first Electronic Money Institution (EMI), in accordance with European law (EMD2). On top of all this, we have a fully AML5 compliant KYC process.

And this is just the beginning. We will keep working closely with national regulatory bodies to make sure that we provide a fully compliant, cutting-edge service to our community.
